Project

Sustainability is at the core of most large corporations’ ethical priorities. It is not only important, but also entirely necessary. Eurest, one of the largest catering suppliers in the UK wanted to make a big impression for the launch of their planted-based concept “Plantalicious”. The imagery needed to capture the essence of its proposition; “exploding with flavour”.

We tested slow-motion cameras and rigs with clever timing mechanisms, but the margin for error was too great. The food needed to look appetising, fun, but not messy. Fishing wire was considered but would give editors a headache in the editing suite. We eventually wound up with the ingenious idea of using layers of non-reflective glass. When stacked upon each other, we could create the illusion of parallax with very little camera movement. The food could be laid out neatly and look as though it was mid-explosion. We could have any background and move in any direction relative to the glass to create dynamic shots that look like nothing else. We later added additional elements in After Effects to aid the idea of motion as well as digital zooms and colour grading.
